Katie McIntyre joined the Centre for Humanitarian Leadership as a Research Fellow in 2025, bringing more than 20 years of leadership experience across the education, nonprofit, and humanitarian sectors.
At CHL, Katie leads and contributes to research projects focused on leadership development, future-focused strategy, and sector transformation. She is a co-lead of the Future of Aid 2040 project in partnership with IARAN, where she applies futures thinking and Causal Layered Analysis to explore systemic drivers, worldviews, and narratives that influence the aid system. Her broader research interests include sustainable leadership, leadership in crisis contexts, and the role of emotion in organisational life.
Katie holds a PhD in leadership and postgraduate qualifications in both business and education. She has published peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters and regularly presents at national and international conferences.
Before joining CHL, Katie held executive and senior leadership roles in education and aviation, including as Chief Operating Officer of a national aeromedical charity. She has also taught and supervised in higher education, including in the areas of management, innovation, and organisational behaviour. Katie brings a strong applied focus to her work, grounded in both academic expertise and frontline experience.
