Humanitarians and first responders in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) will have access to leadership training and mentoring through the Centre for Humanitarian Leadership (CHL).
As part of the H2H Network’s fund activation for the DRC, CHL has received a GBP 108,000 grant (~AUD $225,000) to deliver the Programme de situation en Leadership du Crise (francophone Crisis Leadership Program), for humanitarian actors working in the DRC.
CHL will deliver three intakes of the multi-tiered Programme de situation en Leadership du Crise (PLC), and a mentoring program, aimed at strengthening local leadership capacities. The grant also covers a research project exploring how existing local and national crisis leadership works, the uniqueness of the DRC context and the positive impact of leadership development.
CHL Director, Associate Professor Mary Ana McGlasson says the Centre is pleased to contribute to the collective effort to support the DRC.
It’s crucial that humanitarians operating in the DRC have access to leadership training and mentoring services, to help bolster their capacity to respond to this evolving and complex crisis,” A/Prof McGlasson says.
“Our Crisis Leadership Program has been successfully rolled out to more than 600 participants in five languages since 2022 and demand for the course is growing across different contexts.”
The CLP courses and mentoring workshop will all be facilitated by local graduates of the Centre’s Graduate Certificate of Humanitarian Leadership (Diplôme d’Études Supérieures en Leadership Humanitaire).
The H2H Network fund activation is made possible by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, from the British people.
The H2H Fund is a funding mechanism for H2H Network members that disburses targeted funds to meet specific needs and resourcing the network’s membership in support of the operational needs in the wider system.
